Seminole Heights
Seminole Heights got its start in 1901 when the streetcar line was put in from downtown Tampa to Sulphur Springs. The natural elevation of The Heights was considered healthier than the lower elevation, mosquito prone area of downtown. The Yellow Fever epidemic of the late 1880's was fresh in the minds of Tampa citizens and so land in The Heights quickly became popular. New bungalow style homes sold for $1,000. and the streetcar made for a short commute into downtown.
